The EMC revolution is here

Unlock the full potential of your products with LMB Innovation's revolutionary Electro Magnetic Coupling (EMC) technology. Our patented solution is designed to supercharge your existing offerings, delivering unparalleled performance and efficiency. Whether you're a leading manufacturer of land, sea or air products, or a trusted provider of cutting-edge solutions, integrating an EMC into your product will catapult you ahead of the competition and into a new era of success.

What is an EMC?

An Electromagnetic Coupling (EMC) is a revolutionary new device that replaces all conventional transmissions, gearboxes, CVTs, etc. The EMC also makes clutches, torque converters and other such mechanical components redundant.

With only two moving parts, the EMC allows a power source (i.e. an engine) to operate at its optimal RPM and maintain that RPM while enabling the connected load (wheel/s, propeller etc) to vary its RPM from standstill through to its peak rated RPM.

Electricity is produced as a by-product of the operation of the EMC. This in turn can be utilized to power other systems or accessories.

How it works!

The EMC technology employs a conventional electric motor/generator, comprising a rotor linked to a power source (engine) and a stator that can rotate freely. This rotatable stator, referred to as a rostator, is coupled to an output such as a wheel or a propeller. When the engine operates at its selected RPM, the rotor turns relative to the rostator and they become magnetically coupled. This coupling generates an electrical current in the windings, which is then transmitted to a controller via sliprings and brushes. By adjusting the electrical load through the controller, the RPM of the rostator (connected to the output) can be varied. Consequently, the rostator can rotate independently of the rotor, effectively driving the wheel, propeller, or other connected output at a variable RPM while the rotor RPM remains constant.

Features and benefits

  • With an EMC installed, the engine and the load are never mechanically connected. Therefore, the engine can be made to run at any RPM independently to the output (i.e. wheels in a car). Controlling the output speed is now done through the controller. Thus, the engine can be governed to either its maximum efficiency, max torque or max performance RPM as dictated by the operator and/or condition.
  • Re-generative braking and engine starting from the EMC allows the re-capturing of energy and deletion of heavy starter motors.
  • Un-interrupted and variable power delivery to the load while maintaining engine RPM.
  • With the addition of a battery, capturing the electrical by-product energy of the EMC through its operation allows for true Hybrid operation. Due to the scalability of the EMC, even heavy vehicles can be hybrids. With the rotor locked stationary, the rostator can drive the load as a pure EV.
  • Using the electrical energy from the EMC, the generation of hydrogen fuel using an onboard electrolyzer can supplement the fuel tank and reduce the amount of hydrogen carried.
  • Using the electrical energy from the EMC, a steam generator can be powered allowing for the use of alternate fuels to power the engine.
  • With the rostator locked in a stationary position, the vehicle becomes a mobile generator allowing high capacity V2L. On smaller vehicles such as mopeds/scooters, less developed countries that utilize these vehicles as a primary mode of transport can now power homes in areas without power. Examples of such uses are powering water pumps, water purification systems, heating, cooking, internet access to education services, fridges for vaccines etc. On larger vehicles, V2L can power larger devices and be used in emergency and/or disaster zones.
